Why Advocate Fundraising Exists

Before starting Advocate Fundraising, I spent years in the non-profit sector—supporting missions I believed in with my whole heart.

But behind some of those missions, I witnessed things that deeply challenged my values.

  • Toxic environments where ego overshadowed collaboration

  • Sexual harassment that went unaddressed

  • Dictator-like leadership that silenced entire teams

  • Non-inclusiveness disguised as “professionalism”

  • And too often, those who spoke up weren’t protected—they were pushed out

This wasn’t every organization. Many were doing the hard, heart-led work with real integrity.
But the ones that weren’t? They left their mark.

Eventually, I walked away—not from the sector, but from the dysfunction.

I founded Advocate Fundraising to help non-profits succeed without burning out their teams, compromising their values, or making fundraising something to fear.

Yes, we specialize in grant writing, fund development plans, and donor campaigns—but at the core, our work is about helping organizations build ethical, sustainable, and human-centered systems that reflect the values they claim to uphold.

Because doing good work shouldn’t mean tolerating bad culture.
Because long-term funding shouldn’t come at the cost of your people.
Because integrity and strategy can absolutely go hand in hand.

Advocate Fundraising also offers Leadership Training to help non-profit teams build stronger internal cultures—ones that reflect the same values they show the world.

Let’s create a sector that’s brave enough to do better—and bold enough to lead with care.
